Community Advisory Council

Ahpra's Community Advisory Council provides a community voice to the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (National Scheme) by providing feedback and advice from a consumer and community perspective.

Originally established in 2013 as the Community Reference Group, it was the first national committee of its kind. In 2021 the group was renamed the Community Advisory Council (the Council) to better reflect its advisory role. At this time, the Council’s terms of reference were expanded to enable greater input into specific issues, with the Council now able to convene subcommittees.

Membership was also revised to include two identified positions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Persons; with membership also to be actively sought from young people, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, LGBTIQAP+ people, people with disabilities and people from rural and remote communities.

While providing perspectives from communities and consumers, members share their opinions as individuals and not as representatives of groups.

The Council will not discuss individual registration or notifications matters and has no decision-making powers.

Members are listed on the Community Advisory Council’s Members page and communiqués from the group’s meetings are published on the Communiqués page after each of its meetings.
